Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi says that his department plans to officially roll out their e-visa system later this year. Motsoaledi said that the rollout is envisaged to commence in the second quarter of the 2021/2022 financial year for short-term visitor visa applications.
Minister of Home Affairs Aaron Motsoaledi is extending visas that expired during lockdown. Longer term temporary visas, such as study visas, critical skills visas and general work visas, have had their validity extended until July.
Adjustments to South Africa’s level 3 lockdown regulations, gazetted on Monday 11 January 2021, have given a further two-month grace period to foreigners in South Africa who are holding expired visas.
