Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Minister of Home Affairs, Aaron Motsoaledi, has announced a blanket temporary concession extension of one year to all South African permanent resident holders.
The minister’s directive allows permanent resident holders to South Africa with permission to enter the country on or before 31 December 2021 to activate their permanent residence permits or to remain in a foreign country for a period exceeding three years, without risking the possibility of having their permanent resident status withdrawn.
